The field has a footpath round the outside, making it a popular location with dog walkers, and the River Welland runs round the south of the field.

Located near Harborough town centre, Welland Park is the main park in the Harborough District, offering a range of facilities to visitors. The Millennium Mile cyclepath and footpath running alongside the River Welland links the park Harborough’s Train Station. The park includes a Rose Garden, Playing field, Tennis Courts, Bowling Green, Mini Golf Course, Cafe, Riverside walk, and many beautifully planted flowerbeds. There is also a small skate park adjoining the main section of the park.

The park was awarded a Green Flag award for its high standards in 2007, and has received the award in 2008 and 2009 as well (at the time of writing the 2010 awards are yet to be announced). The park also plays a large part in Harborough’s entry to the East Midlands in Bloom Competition, in which the town consistently does well.

Harborough Carnival 2008 Parade – Farndon Fields School

The Farndon Fields Primary School float, themed around ‘The Wizard of Oz’, passes down Welland Park Road as part of the 2008 Market Harborough Carnival Parade.

The Market Harborough Carnival is a yearly event takes place every June in the town of Market Harborough in Leicestershire, England. It starts with a parade of floats at around mid-day, leading down through the town and around Welland Park. The parade ends up at Symington’s Recreation Ground in St Mary’s Road, where there are numerous stalls and entertainment.

Many local schools and organizations take part in the event. There is no overall theme for the floats set by the organisers, ensuring a good diversity of float themes and designs. The lorries used for the floats are provided by local haulage company Sanderson Transport.
